Almost every smartphones manufacturer has rolled out the current Android 9 Pie to some of their best and most deserving devices. The Pie rollout started long back with all the android one devices which came with Oreo out of the box. Nokia started receiving the update. Later we saw Motorola rolling out the update and soon enough OnePlus to its previous year devices. Companies who use their skin like Huawei, Honor, Realme, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, etc. also started the rollout to some of their compatible devices. Many manufacturers delayed the update for various reasons for some of their devices like Realme for Realme U1, and Oppo is still working on some of their devices like F9, Moto G6 Play Sprint users are now receiving the update and HTC recently started their Android 9 Pie rollout for their U11+.
While the majority of the expected devices have received or receiving the Android 9 Pie update, Google’s Android 10 Q, which is currently in Beta, may fall soon for the Pixel devices. We got a lot of information about Android Q at Google IO 2019, including the one thing which I feel like is a bit of a downfall for me at least. The Android Q will not do not have the Android Beam feature. Android Beam uses NFC to transfer data between two phones when placed close to each other. As we are getting more and more information about the upcoming Android Q, people are getting more and more curious to know if their device will receive the update or not. Well, we can’t tell you when, but we can surely tell you if your device will get it or not.
For a better reference, The list will be divided into three sections. First one will be a list of devices which will eventually grab the Android Q 10 update, the second list will house the devices which may or may not get the update. The third list will contain all the devices that will not get the Android Q update. So let’s dive straight and begin the most anticipated list for Android users starting with the latest upcoming features of Android Q.
Android Q Features and release timeline:
- Better Privacy Protection
- Foldable Phones support
- Android Q ‘Bubbles’ multitasking
- Systemwide Dark Mode
- Project Mainline: Security updates in the background
- 5G support
- More transparent Privacy checking
- Live Captions
- Developer Tools for apps
- More secured Permissions
- Face ID style permissions for login and purchases
- only Gesture controls
The Android Q has six stages for getting officially released including an initial release, three incremental updates, one update with final APIs and the official SDK, and then two release candidates ending up at the final release. We can expect the Android Q to be released in August.

The past record of Asus with updates wasn’t so impressive, but the company is emerging to be a great competitor in the smartphone market. The latest Asus 6Z is a superb value for money phone, and new close to stock refreshed UI of Asus in most of their phones tells a different story about their update policy. We also saw their latest 6Z in the beta program of Android Q, so we have hopes for these smartphones.

HTC has quite a great roadmap. The company has a severe downfall in the past couple of years and is now doing hard for their survival in business. Motorola has a seriously good record of pushing updates to their devices. Their phones run on stock android, so they have a lot of fewer things to do as compared to other brands. Huawei has a different story, and the company had a tough time with all the issues of the trade war between the United States and China. Huawei recently became a part of the US entity list, which means Huawei can’t do business with any US-based company. Which indicates that the company can’t use Google’s Android in their devices anymore. Hence Huawei vigorously pushed its pace towards its own operating system. Huawei is reportedly testing Hongmeng OS or ARK OS in their devices. But recently, the company claimed that all these devices would get the latest Android Q update. And since the US Ban has now lifted up, we don’t doubt any statement or commitment of the company as their past records are quite impressive regarding updates despite having their own EMUI skin on top of the Android operating system. You can read the complete information about the Huawei Android Q update here.

Honor, the subbrand of Huawei is stuck in the same situation as its parent company Huawei. The company was previously in trouble with all the conflicts between Chinese tech giant Huawei and the United States President. But now things are in control, and we are hoping to see the updates soon in all of these devices. We still doubt if the Honor 8C will receive the update or not as the company as of now has only confirmed the recently launched Honor 20 lineup.
