While Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset is dominating the flagship smartphone market this year, a fresh leak points to the next in line Snapdragon chipset, the Snapdragon 830. Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 was kind of let down for many people out there and it had some weird issues. Though the Snapdragon 820 performed quite well and it gave complex to the other high-end CPUs like Exynos 8890.
Update: – A Zaube import sheet of Qualcomm’s developerLAB EQUIPMENT confirms that the Snapdragon 830will be coming with LPDDR4X on board. It is a big upgrade for the chipset causeLPDDR4X uses half power compared to its predecessor, LPDDR4. The LPDDR4 uses 1.1V, while the LPDDR4X uses only 0.6V of power.
In December 2014, we have seen similar kinds of test equipment with MSM8996 shipped to India and then on March 2015, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 820 chipset. So we can expect a Q4 announcement of the Snapdragon 830 chipset alongside with the launch of Snapdragon 821/823this year.
Previously we have seen a Microsoft product description page has accidentally leaked this info by listing theSnapdragon 830 (Now removed) which could suggest the processor featuring on a future Windows smartphone. Users can expect to see the first set of devices come equipped with the new Snapdragon 830 in 2017.
Snapdragon 830 (msm8998) Specifications
According to the folks over at China and Wccftech the Snapdragon 830 will come with an internal Codename of MSM8998. The latest leak reveals that the new processor, dubbed Snapdragon 830 is expected to come with an enhanced Kryo custom architecture. It will also be built based on Samsung’s 10nm manufacturing process. The move to decrease the 14nm to the 10nm in the Snapdragon 830 is expected to bring enhanced performance and a reduction in power requirements based on the familiar physical footprint. Additionally, the Snapdragon 830 is expected to bring the same dual-configuration that is built in the Snapdragon 820.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 will be manufactured on the 10nm, making it the first processor for such a jump. In addition, Qualcomms also expected to further refine its homegrownKryo coreson the processor for improved performance and power consumption. In addition, the processor will also be including support for up to 8GB of RAM, meaning that Qualcomm really does seem to have some high expectations for 2017, which will be the year of the

However, such as the overall design of the chipset arent present, however, the processing details ofKryoand the Snapdragon 830s GPU, most likely to be Adreno 540, an upgrade on theAdreno 530found on theSnapdragon 820. Snapdragon 830 expected to come with a quad-core Kryo CPU on board, clocked at 2.4 GHz or maybe2.8 GHz.
This is all information we have as of now. Since there is no official confirmation or launch, we cant say much about it in detail, but we know half of the story via leaks. It will still be interesting to see that what else Qualcomm do with their new chipset and how it performs. But anyways, its quite obvious that Qualcomm is going to set another bar in the market of mobile computing with this new high-end chipset.
