Google just a month ago announced Android Oreo 8.0 update and the talks about the Android Oreo 8.1 are in the air, well not quite in the air but the system images are already available for download as a Preview version. And the new update is available for the Pixel devices; you can also join in for the developer preview.
This new version of Android Oreo will be available for the following devices from Google:
- Pixel 2 XL
- Pixel 2
- Pixel
- Pixel XL
- Pixel C
- Nexus 6P
- Pixel 5X
The OTA will soon be pushed out in coming weeks; however, if you have an unlocked bootloader which the new pixels 2 devices owner won’t try for sure, but if you have the Nexus 5x and 6P you surely can grab the system images and flash the 8.1 preview ROM.
Moreover, it seems so early for this new upgrade, and the 8.0 has not even reached any significant devices except Google’s own devices, such as the discontinued Nexus and the Pixel ones. Speaking about the new Pixel devices, it was a bad week for them, as users complain about screen burn in its first week itself, and the weak build quality reports that came out this week.
If that wasn’t enough, the poor Pixel 2 and 2XL got bashed because of its weird blue tint on the screen, which is only visible if you view it from an extreme angle. It’s okay if you look at it straight from the front. Furthermore, the stereo speakers have different sound decibels when measured by 9to5 Google, to fix the vibrating noises.
So, is the Android Oreo 8.1 coming too soon, to get people’s attention away from this issues on the pixel? Or is Google just too good to prep out such new upgrades; what you think, please let us know below? Also, make sure to back up everything, a developer preview does have few bugs here and there, or you can wait for the final release happening in December.
