Huawei UK in an email conversation with one of its user revealed that the Huawei P9’s Android Oreo 8.0 Update had been canceled and the reason given was higher power consumption, the system in function failure, and the update didn’t support the system very well, leading to device freezing. Which is bad news after the beta testing of Android Oreo on P9 was announced.
Given that the Huawei P9 is out, the P9 Plus also has the same specs and might also not get the Android Oreo 8.0 update. The same thing might also apply to the Huawei P9 Lite. These smartphones are the flagships from 2016, and the one last major update that they received was the Android Nougat OS, and now the Oreo is getting canceled means the two-year updates for the flagship is not happening in case of the P9. But Huawei was never known for updating its devices to the latest software.
However, also keep in mind that, that the support team of certain Android OEM is not always up to date with the newest software developments and this can could be a misleading call. But, if the hardware limitations are to be blamed; than there’s no way getting around this, the Huawei P9 might be stacked on Android Nougat forever.
We hope this could be a miscommunication, and Huawei thinks critically for its Flagship which brought it back in the game and provided the one last Android Oreo update for the P9 family.
