Honor runs one of the largest update programs of any Android brand and gets almost none of the credit, partly because it is still widely confused with Huawei. The Honor Android 16 update is real, broad and well ahead of most competitors in scale. This tracker covers which devices are getting it and when, and it is revised as rollouts progress.
The quick answer: Honor’s Android 16 release is MagicOS 10, and it is one of the widest rollouts in the industry: distribution began in October 2025 and covers more than 50 phone and tablet models, reaching over 150 devices in total and more than 20 million handsets within months. It runs in four phases. Phase 1 started with the Magic V5, then the Magic 7 and Magic 6 series, Honor GT Pro and Honor 400 series. Phase 2 in November added the Magic V3, Magic Vs3 and Magic 5. Phase 3 in December covered further Magic V series devices and tablets. For the UK and Europe specifically, Honor’s published regional roadmap puts the Magic V2, V2 RSR, Magic Vs, 200 Pro, 200, 400 Smart and Pad X8a in a March 2026 batch, later than the December 2025 slot those same models got in some other regions. MagicOS 11, based on Android 17, was unveiled by Honor on 6 August 2026 and opened a closed beta shortly after, with builds reaching at least some Magic8 Pro handsets by mid-August; Honor has not yet published a public stable release date.
Honor is not Huawei
Worth clearing up first, because it changes the answer completely.
Honor was spun off from Huawei and has operated independently since 2020. The practical consequence is that Honor phones ship with full Google Mobile Services, including the Play Store, and run standard Android underneath MagicOS.
Huawei does not. Its devices run HarmonyOS without Google services, so Android version updates do not apply to them in the same way. If you have been told Honor phones do not get Google apps or Android updates, that information is about Huawei and is several years out of date.
MagicOS 10 rollout phases
Status wording is consistent across our trackers. Rolling out means a stable build is reaching devices. Expected means it fits the announced plan but has not shipped. Not eligible means it has been ruled out. Phase dates below follow Honor’s global schedule as reported by Gizmochina’s device-by-device breakdown; the March 2026 row is the UK and Europe-specific batch from Honor’s own regional roadmap, which runs later than the global date for the same models.

The scale is the story
Reaching more than 150 devices and over 20 million handsets in a matter of months puts MagicOS 10 among the broadest Android version rollouts anyone ran that cycle.
That matters because Honor’s reputation, particularly in Europe and India, still carries an assumption of patchy software support inherited from the Huawei split. The delivery record on MagicOS 10 does not support that assumption.
Where Honor is weaker is at the budget end. The Magic and numbered flagship lines get long, prompt support. The lower-cost X series has a shorter runway and appears late in rollouts or not at all, which is the pattern across most brands, so factor it into any purchase at that tier.
What about Android 17?
Honor unveiled MagicOS 11, based on Android 17, at a Pioneer Event on 6 August 2026, and opened a closed beta program shortly after for 17 phones and tablets, led by the Magic V6, Magic V5, Magic 8 series and GT Pro. Honor’s own beta program timeline runs application review for phones from 12 to 14 August, with beta builds due to start reaching phones on or before 18 August 2026; tablet applications are reviewed from 24 to 25 August, with tablet beta builds due on or before 28 August 2026. Checked 18 August 2026. MagicOS 11 beta builds are now reaching phones. a first-hand Magic8 Pro report on 8 August shows the build installed, and Honor’s own community has moved on to publishing its list of selected testers. What is confirmed is delivery to at least some Magic8 Pro handsets; delivery to the rest of the batch, and to other regions, is not. The tablet window, 24 to 25 August for review with builds on or before 28 August, is still ahead. Honor has not announced a public stable release date at the time of writing, so treat any specific month for general availability as unconfirmed until Honor publishes one.
Given MagicOS 10 only finished its main phases in Q1 2026 (or March 2026 for the UK/Europe batch), most Honor owners should treat MagicOS 10 as their current release for now. Older devices such as the Honor 200 and Magic V2 were not part of the MagicOS 11 beta’s first batch, so they are the most likely to be spending their final version update on MagicOS 10, though that is an inference from the beta list rather than something Honor has stated directly.
Where Honor is sold
Honor sells across Europe including the UK, in India, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and parts of Latin America. It is one of the more significant Android brands in Western Europe that has no meaningful United States presence, so American readers will not encounter it through normal retail.
For UK and European readers, Honor is a genuine mainstream option with proper retail and carrier distribution, and its update record deserves more weight in a buying decision than it usually gets.
Honor’s update policy by tier
Honor’s commitments have improved considerably since the Huawei separation, and they are better than the brand’s reputation suggests at the top of the range.

Four to five Android versions on the Magic line puts Honor in the same conversation as Samsung and Google for flagship longevity, which very few people would guess. The Honor 400 series at three versions is competitive for its price.
The X series is the weak point, and it is also Honor’s volume seller in several markets. One to two versions is short, and X series devices frequently arrive last in rollouts or sit outside them entirely. If update length matters and you are shopping Honor, the numbered series is the lowest tier worth considering.
How to check on your Honor phone
Open Settings, then System and updates, then Software update, and tap Check for updates. To confirm what you are running, Settings, then About phone, and read the MagicOS version and the Android version separately.
Honor also runs an early-access program for some models through the Honor Club app in supported regions. As with any beta, expect camera and battery regressions and expect that leaving may require a full data wipe.
One regional note: Honor’s Chinese builds and its global builds are separate tracks with different app defaults, and an imported Chinese model does not switch to the global track through a normal update.

Honor is one of the better brands to track because it publishes phased rollout schedules and then largely delivers against them, so most rows here can be marked Rolling out rather than Expected.
Where we stay cautious is the tail of the device list. Honor’s “more than 150 devices” figure covers many regional variants and older tablets that are not individually announced, so this page lists the models named in Honor’s published phases rather than reproducing an unverifiable long tail. If your device is not here, that is a gap in public information rather than a confirmed exclusion, unless it appears in the Not eligible rows.
MagicOS 11 rows are deliberately absent until Honor publishes a device list. Changes are dated in the changelog below.
Frequently asked questions
Do Honor phones have Google services?
Yes. Honor separated from Huawei in 2020 and its phones ship with full Google Mobile Services including the Play Store. The restriction people remember applies to Huawei, not Honor.
Is my Honor getting Android 16 or Android 17?
Android 16, as MagicOS 10, if it is eligible. MagicOS 11 on Android 17 was unveiled on 6 August 2026 and is in closed beta, with builds confirmed on at least some Magic8 Pro handsets; Honor has not yet set a public release date for everyone else.
My Honor is not in the phase list.
Honor’s rollout covers far more devices than it individually announces, including many regional variants. Absence from the phases above is not a confirmed exclusion unless the device appears in the Not eligible rows.
How long does Honor support a phone?
It varies sharply by tier. Magic series and numbered flagships get the longest and promptest support. The budget X series has a materially shorter runway and often appears late in rollouts or not at all.
