Infinix sells tens of millions of phones a year and is close to invisible in software update coverage. The big Android outlets do not track it, so owners asking a simple question end up on forums. This Infinix XOS 16 update tracker answers it in one place, and it is revised as the rollout moves rather than replaced each time a device lands.
The quick answer: Infinix’s Android 16 release is XOS 16, and it is rolling out through 2026 in three phases: Q2 covered the Note 50 and GT 30 series, Q3 expands to older Note and GT devices plus newer Hot models, and Q4 brings the Zero line including the foldable. The Note 60 series, launched after that rollout plan was set, ships with XOS 16 and Android 16 out of the box. Two exclusions matter more than the inclusions. The entire HOT 50 series is not getting Android 16, and neither are the XPAD 20 or SMART 10 series. Infinix’s policy is up to two major Android upgrades and three years of security patches on the ZERO, NOTE and GT lines, with budget ranges getting materially less, though the new Note 60 generation carries a longer promise (see the policy table below). No Android 17 program has been found as of 18 August 2026, so XOS 16 is the update to watch.
The XOS 16 rollout, by phase
| Phase | Devices | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Q2 2026 | Note 50 series, GT 30 series | Rolling out |
| Q3 2026 | Older Note and GT series, newer Hot series | Expected |
| Q4 2026 | Zero series including the foldable | Expected |
| Excluded | HOT 50 series, XPAD 20 series, SMART 10 series | Not eligible |
Status wording is consistent across our trackers. Rolling out means a stable build is reaching devices. Expected means it fits the published phase plan but has not shipped. Not eligible means Infinix has ruled it out.

The exclusions, and why they matter most
Eligibility lists tend to publish what is included. On Infinix the more useful information is what is not, because the excluded devices sold in very large numbers.
The HOT 50 series is excluded from Android 16 entirely. The Hot line is Infinix’s volume seller, which makes this the single most consequential fact on this page. If you own a Hot 50, XOS 15 on Android 15 is where your device stops for major versions.
The XPAD 20 series and SMART 10 series are also excluded. The Smart line is Infinix’s entry tier, where a single major version update, or none, has always been the realistic expectation.
This is not Infinix behaving unusually for its market segment. A phone selling at Hot or Smart pricing carries thin margin, and long software support is the first thing that gets cut. Know that before purchase, not after.
Infinix update policy by tier
| Range | Android version upgrades | Security patches |
|---|---|---|
| ZERO series | Up to 2 | 3 years |
| NOTE series (through Note 50) | Up to 2 | 3 years |
| NOTE 60 series | Up to 3 | 5 years |
| GT series | Up to 2 | 3 years |
| HOT series | Fewer, frequently 1 | Shorter |
| SMART series | Frequently none | Shorter |
Two major upgrades was the ceiling on Infinix’s premium lines through the Note 50 generation. The Note 60 series, launched in 2026, raised that to three upgrades and five years of patches, its longest promise yet. Whether that extends to the next Zero and GT launches is not yet confirmed. Reading down that table explains every exclusion above without needing a leaked list.
For comparison, a Samsung Galaxy A series phone at similar money now carries six Android versions and six years of patches. That gap is the honest tradeoff in buying Infinix: strong hardware for the price, short software life.
Which Infinix phones are getting XOS 16

| Note 60 series | Shipped with it | Out of the box since March 2026 |
| Note 50 series | Rolling out | Since Q2 2026 |
| GT 30 series | Rolling out | Since Q2 2026 |
| Note 40 series | Expected | Q3 2026 |
| GT 20 series | Expected | Q3 2026 |
| Hot 60 series | Expected | Q3 2026 |
| Zero 40 series, Zero Flip | Expected | Q4 2026 |
| Note 30 series | Unclear | Policy likely exhausted; treat XOS 15 as final unless Infinix names it |
| HOT 50 series | Not eligible | Confirmed excluded |
| SMART 10 series | Not eligible | Confirmed excluded |
| XPAD 20 series | Not eligible | Confirmed excluded |
What about Android 17?
Not yet, and the direct answer matters because searches for it are common.
As of 18 August 2026 I found no Infinix announcement of an Android 17 program, checking Infinix’s own XOS channels and the outlets that cover the brand. Infinix publishes little in English and announces late, so read that as nothing found rather than nothing existing. Given XOS 16 is still mid-rollout with phases running to Q4 2026, Infinix’s current XOS 16 cadence makes a 2027 start plausible, but that is an inference from the rollout pace rather than an announced schedule.
For most Infinix owners the practical answer is that Android 16 via XOS 16 is either your current update or your last one. If your device is on the two-upgrade policy and shipped on Android 14, XOS 16 exhausts it.
Where Infinix is sold
Infinix is the youngest-skewing of Transsion’s three brands, positioned above itel and alongside Tecno, and it leans harder on online retail than its siblings do. India is its single most important market by volume, with Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Nigeria close behind.
That online tilt is why Infinix has more visible enthusiast discussion than Tecno despite similar scale, and it is also why forum threads rather than articles are where most owners end up. There is no US retail presence and only a token European one, so the publications that set the agenda on Android updates have little reason to cover a brand their readers cannot buy.
Should you buy an Infinix if updates matter to you?
This deserves a direct answer rather than a hedge, because the tradeoff is sharper on Infinix than on most brands.
If software support is a priority, no. Two Android upgrades at the very top of the range, and frequently one or none below it, is short by any current standard, and the Hot 50 exclusion shows how quickly the lower tiers get cut off.
If price to performance is the priority and you replace phones every two to three years, Infinix is a genuinely strong buy and the short software runway costs you nothing you would have used. The hardware per unit of money is competitive, which is why the brand sells at the scale it does.
The buyers who get caught out are the ones who keep a phone for four or five years. On an Infinix that means several years without new Android versions and, on the lower tiers, without security patches either. If that is your pattern, a Samsung A series device on six years of support is a materially different proposition at similar money, and worth the comparison before buying.
How to check on your Infinix phone
Open Settings, then System, then System update, and tap Check for updates. To see what you are on, Settings, then About phone, and read both the XOS version and the Android version, because they are numbered separately and a new XOS release does not always mean a new Android version.
Infinix compounds this by shipping fairly large XOS feature drops between Android versions. A device can gain a redesigned camera app and new system features while staying on the Android release it already had, which understandably reads as an upgrade. Only the Android version line settles it.
How we source and maintain this tracker
Infinix publishes less than the major brands, and much of what circulates comes from regional outlets and enthusiast sites rather than company channels. So this page is more conservative than most of its competitors.
Phase assignments come from Infinix’s own XOS social channels, which have posted the Q2 through Q4 timeline directly rather than through a dedicated policy page, and from device coverage on GSMArena. Infinix does not publish a single consolidated eligibility list the way some larger manufacturers do, so exclusions are stated only where they have been reported consistently across independent coverage, which is why HOT 50, XPAD 20 and SMART 10 appear as Not eligible while the Note 30 sits at Unclear rather than being written off. Where a device’s tier makes an outcome likely but nothing confirms it, we say Expected and name the policy behind it.
We do not list Android 17 rows at all, because none has been found and a speculative table would be worse than no table and a speculative table would be worse than no table. Changes are dated in the changelog below.
Frequently asked questions
Is my Infinix getting Android 16 or Android 17?
Android 16, as XOS 16, if it is getting anything. None found as of 18 August 2026, and the Android 17 section above explains why absence is weak evidence on this brand, and XOS 16 is still rolling out through Q4 2026.
Why is the Hot 50 excluded when newer Hot phones are included?
Because eligibility follows the launch version and the tier policy rather than model age alone. The Hot line sits below the ZERO, NOTE and GT tiers that receive up to two upgrades, so it runs out sooner.
I got an XOS update. Was that Android 16?
Not necessarily. XOS versions and Android versions are numbered separately, and XOS point releases often arrive on the same Android base. Check Settings, then About phone, and read the Android version line specifically.
My Infinix is not listed here.
Infinix’s lineup is large and heavily regional, so a missing device usually means no credible source has placed it. Match it to the closest series above and apply the tier policy table, which predicts outcomes on this brand better than any list.

Changelog
- 18 August 2026: Scoped the Android 17 statement to what was actually checked. It said Infinix has not announced a program; it now says none was found as of this date, which is a different and smaller claim.
- 11 August 2026: Added the Note 60 series, which was missing from this tracker despite shipping with XOS 16 and Android 16 out of the box since March 2026. Corrected the update policy table to reflect the Note 60 generation’s longer promise of up to 3 Android upgrades and 5 years of security patches, versus up to 2 upgrades and 3 years on the Note 50 generation and earlier. Added sourcing links.
- 1 August 2026: Page created. XOS 16 (Android 16) confirmed rolling out in three 2026 phases: Q2 Note 50 and GT 30, Q3 older Note/GT plus newer Hot, Q4 Zero line. HOT 50, XPAD 20 and SMART 10 series confirmed excluded. Policy confirmed at up to 2 Android upgrades and 3 years of security patches for ZERO, NOTE and GT. No Android 17 program announced.
