OPPO runs one of the largest update programs in the industry and explains it in some of the most scattered ways. ColorOS 16 has been rolling out for months across more than 45 devices, ColorOS 17 is coming behind it, and most coverage treats them as one thing. This OPPO Android 16 update tracker separates them, and it gets revised as rollouts move.
The quick answer: ColorOS 16, based on Android 16, is the update actually reaching OPPO phones right now. It began rolling out to existing phones in late October 2025 and has run through Q1 2026 and beyond, and it now also ships pre-installed on OPPO’s newest flagships. Altogether it covers more than 45 phones and tablets across the Find, Reno, K, F and Pad lines. the global schedule reproduced below does not include A-series phones, but OPPO’s regional schedules differ and OPPO Brazil’s schedule does list the A5 Pro 5G, A60 and A40. If you own an A series, check your own region’s OPPO schedule or the phone directly rather than reading a wave from this page. Global rollout devices started with the Find N5, Find N3, Find N3 Flip, Find X8 series, Reno 14 and Reno 13 lines and the Pad 3 Pro, with older models following, while the Find X9 series (launched October 2025), Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s (launched April 2026), and the Reno 15 series (launched January 2026) shipped with ColorOS 16 out of the box. ColorOS 17, based on Android 17, opened a small closed beta on 6 August 2026, starting with the Find X9 Pro and widening from there. By 6 August the China registration list covered the Find N6, Find X9 Pro, Find X9 Ultra, Find X9s and Pad 5, per Gizmochina’s report on the 6 August expansion. That program is capped and registration-based, and the list has kept moving, so treat any device roster for it as a snapshot. The public stable release has not started, and OPPO has not announced a date or a rollout roadmap for it. If your OPPO has not had ColorOS 16 yet, that is the update to watch for, not ColorOS 17.
ColorOS 16 or ColorOS 17: which one applies to you
This is the single most useful distinction on this page, and it is where most confusion comes from.

One source of confusion is worth clearing before the detail. ColorOS 17 is not only OPPO’s: OnePlus is retiring OxygenOS for it and Realme is retiring realme UI for it, so all three brands land on the same platform. Device lists for those two are already circulating and they are not OPPO’s list. If you own a OnePlus or a Realme, the linked trackers are your page.
If you are searching for an Android 17 update for an OPPO phone, only a closed, application-based beta has shipped to selected participants of Find and Pad models that is still being widened, and the public stable version everyone else gets has not, with the wait for that still measured in months. The update available to most OPPO owners today is ColorOS 16.

Why OPPO rollouts feel slower than they are
OPPO ships to a very large device list, and the consequence is that being “eligible” and being “next” are different things by a margin of months.
The pattern is consistent. China gets builds first, then a global first wave of current flagships and foldables, then mid-range and older flagships in later waves, then regional variants. A device can appear on an eligibility list in October and receive the update the following March without anything having gone wrong.
Regional variants add a second layer. OPPO sells model numbers that differ between India, Southeast Asia, Europe and Australia, and those clear certification separately. Two phones with the same marketing name can be weeks apart.
Where OPPO is and is not sold
OPPO does not sell officially in the United States, so American readers encountering one are looking at an import, with the usual caveat that carrier band and VoLTE support is the practical obstacle rather than the software version.
In the UK, Australia and much of Europe OPPO sells through normal retail, and the global build applies, so the tables above read straightforwardly. India and Southeast Asia are OPPO’s largest markets and generally see the widest device coverage, including F and K series models not sold elsewhere.
The bigger picture: OPPO’s software is absorbing two other brands
This matters if you are comparing phones rather than just waiting for an update.
ColorOS is becoming the software for three separate brands. OnePlus is retiring OxygenOS and moving to ColorOS starting with Android 17, and Realme is retiring realme UI in favor of ColorOS 17. ColorOS 16.1 already ships to OnePlus devices alongside OPPO ones.
The practical effect for buyers is that OPPO, OnePlus and Realme are converging on one software experience. If you were choosing between them partly on software feel, that distinction is disappearing. We cover the two migrations separately in our OnePlus tracker and Realme tracker.
Should you wait for ColorOS 17 before buying an OPPO?
Generally no, and the reason is specific to how OPPO sequences releases.
ColorOS 17’s stable rollout has not started. OPPO has opened a closed, application-based beta on a handful of current flagships since 6 August 2026, but that program selects a limited number of applicants per device, 300 in China, and is not the public release. When the stable version does arrive, it will reach current flagships first, meaning a phone bought today would sit in one of the first waves. Waiting achieves little except paying launch pricing for longer.
The more useful thing to check before buying is where a model sits in the ColorOS 16 rollout right now. A Reno or F series device still waiting for ColorOS 16 is a device that will also be late in the ColorOS 17 queue, because OPPO’s ordering is consistent across cycles. A Find series phone already on ColorOS 16 will be near the front next time.
The exception is anyone choosing between OPPO, OnePlus and Realme specifically on software. That choice is dissolving as all three converge on ColorOS, so it is worth deciding on hardware, price and support length instead.
How to check on your OPPO phone
Open Settings, then About device, then Software update, and tap Check for updates. To see what you are on now, Settings, then About device, and read the ColorOS version alongside the Android version.
Two practical notes. OPPO stages rollouts in batches, so checking repeatedly does not advance your position. And OPPO runs a beta program for some models through Settings, then Software update, then the trial version option. As with any beta, expect camera and battery regressions and expect that leaving may require a full data wipe.
What OPPO itself has published about ColorOS 17, and what it has not
Checked on 18 August 2026: OPPO has a live ColorOS 16 page at oppo.com/en/coloros16, and the equivalent ColorOS 17 address returns a 404. On the ColorOS domain the live page sits at /version/coloros16/ and its ColorOS 17 equivalent 404s as well. The /en/ path on that domain 404s for ColorOS 16 too, so it is not a valid check and is not the one used here. That is a check of the two addresses its current page uses, not a search of OPPO’s whole support site, so read it as what it is: OPPO has not yet stood up the landing page it normally uses to announce a version, twelve days after opening the beta. What follows from that is narrower than it first sounds, and worth stating precisely. OPPO has published developer-preview and closed-beta device coverage, so it is not silent on ColorOS 17. What it has not published is a stable-rollout eligibility list or roadmap. Any list claiming to show which OPPO phones get the finished ColorOS 17, and when, is therefore somebody’s reconstruction rather than OPPO’s schedule.
How we source and maintain this tracker
OPPO is unusual among the brands we track in that it does publish an upgrade plan, which means more of this page can be marked Rolling out rather than Expected than on trackers for Samsung or Motorola.
Where we still hold back is exact dates per region. OPPO’s published schedules are announced by wave and by market, and a device listed for a given month frequently reaches some regions weeks later. So this page states which wave a device sits in, because a date it may not meet in your market is worse than no date.
The Find series table above notes ColorOS 17’s closed beta, but there is still no stable-rollout device list to build a full ColorOS 17 table around. OPPO’s beta program is capped and registration-based at a few hundred testers per device, which is a different thing from a public rollout schedule, and inventing a stable-release list would put this page in the same category as the lists that present inference as fact. What is ColorOS 16.1?
A point release on top of ColorOS 16, still based on Android 16. It brings refinements rather than a new Android version, and it has reached more than 20 OPPO and OnePlus devices so far, though OPPO has published no global 16.1 list.
My OPPO is on the eligible list but has not received anything.
That is normal. OPPO’s list spans more than 45 devices released in waves over several months, and regional variants certify separately. Eligibility indicates you are in the program, not that you are next.
Will an imported OPPO get the global update?
Not necessarily. A China-market device runs the China build, which is a separate track. Converting requires flashing, which risks bricking the device and may void the warranty.
