Samsung Galaxy S6 starts getting the October security patch update

Samsung is the only smartphone company which is pushing out security updates for their respective devices regularly, and now a new update is coming in for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and this brings the device, the latest November security patch. The new update comes with firmware version G920FXXU5EQK4 and the size is around 100MB. So, you should install this OTA as soon as possible.

Earlier updates had already fixed the Blueborne exploit, this will annihilate other security vulnerabilities and make your device a little safer. There isn’t much anything known about this update, but you can expect usual bug-fixes and stability improvements. As far as the Update for Android Oreo is concerned, the Galaxy S6 is unfortunately not making to the Android Oreo list, but we you’ll surely find many custom ROMs for the device a potential stable Official LineageOS build should be on its way. But still, all we can hope is Samsung continues to provide some security updates for the 2-year-old device.

And now, as usual, your Galaxy S6 needs at least 60% battery life to install this update without any issues. Also, downloading OTA over WiFi is recommended. To check the update manually, if you haven’t received the notification yet, then like always head over to Settings >About Phone > System Software updates.

Other devices getting the security update from Samsung’s arsenal is the Galaxy S6 Active, Galaxy A5 2017 and the Galaxy A7.
