LG G5 was a good flagship phone at its time, and it’s been two years now for the device. It is aging well with new software updates as one of the major updates of this year is Android Oreo 8.0 which will be soon available for the LG G5. Which was earlier launched with Android Marshmallow and later in 2017 that’s last year was updated to Android Nougat, and now it’s time for Oreo, which will make it complete its two-year update cycle.
And as per new documents of kernel source now published by LG, which conveys the fact that the South-Korean giant is almost ready with the update. You can see in the image below that the models LG F700K, F700L, and the F700S which are South-Korean models of the LG G5 are up for Android Oreo 8.0 update within a few weeks.
While for the global variants of the LG G5 the Android Oreo 8.0 update is expected by August 2018. This could also include the June security patch when it arrives. Apart from that, the new flavor in town is Android P 9.0 which is still missing its full name, and this new update won’t be available for the LG G5 as the device has already completed its two-year update cycle with Android Oreo. However, with the LineageOS 16, you can surely expect the taste of Android P in the form of those custom ROMs.
For the LG G5 devices on carriers, the update might get delayed as always so do expect the whole of August or even a few weeks after that the rollout should be ongoing.
