Xiaomi India is tipping for a while that they will be bringing a new series of smartphones in India and specifically for the selfie lovers. Today Xiaomi has announced its two new smartphones in India known as the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and the Redmi Y1 Lite. The two devices are focused on front cameras which indirectly means Xiaomi this time will compete with the brands like Oppo and Vivo as they have occupied the current market for selfie phones. Xiaomi Redmi Y1
Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is the same handset which was launched earlier in China as the Redmi Note 5A. It supports 4G connectivity, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, etc. Powering it is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435(64 bit) Octa-Core processor clocked at 1.4Ghz coupled with optional 3GB/4GB RAM along with an Adreno 505 GPU. It will be made available in 32GB/64GB ROM variants, and the storage is expandable up to 128GB�s.
In the front, there is a 5.5(inch) HD 2.5D IPS Display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, Gorilla Glass protection. In the rear, there is a 13MP Camera with LED Flash, PDAF, Aperture f/2.2 and in the front, a 16MP shooter with LED Flash, Aperture f/2.0 is present. The phones run on MIUI 8 based on the Android 7.1.2 Nougat. The Fingerprint Scanner is present in the rear, and partially the device is made out of metal.
It runs on a 3000mAh battery and will be made available in Black and Gold colors through Mi.com and Amazon India. The 4GB RAM/64GB ROM variant is available for�10,999 INR while for 3GB RAM/32GB ROM you have to pay 8,999 INR.
Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite
It is the smaller variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and you have to compromise in some departments in it. It is a Dual-SIM handset and comes powered by a Snapdragon 425(64 bit) Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.4Ghz coupled with 2GB of RAM along with an Adreno 308 GPU. It comes with 16GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB�s via micro-SD Card. The phone runs on MIUI 8 on top of Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
In the front, there is a 5.5(inch) HD IPS Screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a Gorilla Glass protection. In the Camera department, it houses a 13MP rear Camera with an LED Flash, PDAF, Aperture f/2.2 and in the front, there is a 5MP shooter with Aperture f/2.0 for selfies. This Camera setup is very similar to that of the Redmi 4 smartphone. Fingerprint Scanner is absent in this device though IR Blaster is there.
It runs on a 3000mAh battery and will be made available in Gray and Gold colors through Mi.com and Amazon India and�is priced at 6,999 INR which makes it a good contender for best phones under Rs. 7000 in India.
Both devices sport an Infrared Sensor and will be soon upgraded to MIUI 9. The two devices will also be made available through offline stores starting from 8th�of November. The two devices offer 450nits of peak brightness which is enough for a budget phone device. There are a lot of devices from Xiaomi itself in this budget including the Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4, so these newly launched devices will also create a little problem for Xiaomi as well.
