Razer Phone is one of the best gaming phones out there. With 120 Hz refresh rate screen, it is one of the best performing smartphones currently. The Razer Phone is based on stock Android and tends to receive updates at faster pace. And recently, Razer Phone received another update based on Android Oreo 8.1. The update is an OTA ( Over-The-Air) update so people in different regions and on different carriers will be receiving this OTA update too.
People running on the global ROM should look out for the update namedOPM1.171019.011-RZR-180509.5038 while those on carrier ROMs should look for the version beingOPM1.171019.011-CKH-180509.5037. This update includes the latest security patch of May 1, 2018, and adds the Portrait Mode feature to the camera. Other changes include minor bug fixes here and there.
You can achieve great portraits after you update it to the latest OTA. There was a multi-touch bug fix which has now been fixed completely. The update weighs at around 366 MB in size.
The Android 8.1 Oreo should have come a bit earlier for the Razer Phone, but nonetheless, it is finally here. As we can see, there is still a hope for Android P which might make its way to the Razer Phone as well. If Google was kind enough to give access to Android P beta, we could have had more expectations. But since it is based on stock Android, we can dream for further updates.
Also, keep in mind that you can still install this update manually, but it requires an unlocked bootloader which may wipe your data. So keep an eye on that before you do this.
