OnePlus 6 gets the LineageOS 15.1 Custom ROM

OnePlus 6 is selling like hotcakes, and the device is already one of the favorites in the Android developer community, and without wasting any time, LineageOS 15.1 has been made available for the OnePlus 6. However, you might wonder, isn’t that too quick and yes it is, and thus the highly anticipated custom ROM is apparently not stable yet and is in experimental stage only. But a talented XDA developer who goes by the name phusson has already rolled out an Alpha build of the LineageOS 15.1 for the handset.

The Alpha build of the LineageOS 15.1 release by the senior developer was achieved by blending the Generic system image of the LineageOS and Open Google apps and service into a system.ini flashable package file. Which in itself is a brilliant move and is now also available for Download. However, you also need to understand that this is an Alpha ROM and may have quite a few bugs and is not very suitable as a daily driver or for non-advance Android users. So, this Alpha release is an unofficial one, and won’t work as smooth as the OxygenOS it comes with.

The flashing process does come with its own set of little bits of struggle, but there are ways getting around it as well. And if you want to try it out, then you can visit here and give it a shot. Note that some essentials like the fingerprint scanner, LED notification light and brightness sliders won’t work. Moreover, with few weeks passing by we should soon a beta release and by the time Android P comes out in its final AOSP, this could probably be in its first stable form.
