Moto G 3rd Gen Specs, Features and Updates

Will the third generation of the Motorola Moto G or Moto G3 be the “best budget smartphone” – as Forbes speculated – this year? Based on the leaked specs, it looks like the device might just as well be that.

According to Air Herald, the upcoming iteration Moto G 3rd Gen will be priced at around $200, making it “one of the best Android phones you can buy at its price point.”

“It will have a 5-inch, 720p screen, giving it a PPI of 294,” the site went on to reveal. It will also be equipped with version 5.1 of Android Lollipop, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 processor, and 1GB of RAM.

“Storage wise, there is only two option, 8 or 16 GB. It does take microSD cards up to 32 GB which means you can easily add more storage if you like,” Air Herald said. “The Moto G still has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.”

“Some rumours suggested that moto g 3 will come with 13MP Rear camera and 2.1 MP of Front camera.”

Forbes also reported that specs for a handset named “Motorola TBD” – presumably referring to Moto G 2015 – include “a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor and 1 GB of RAM.”

The best aspect of the 3rd generation Moto G reportedly is its 4G LTE capabilities, although there is a concern whether the handset’s battery life can adequately handle such a specification.

Meanwhile, International Business Times said that the rumored Moto G 2015 will have a “5in display with 720×1280 pixels resolution; enclosed within Gorilla Glass 3, Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating platform, 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, 1GB RAM, Dual SIM-card support, 16GB internal storage, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and micro USB connectivity, and 2390 mAh battery.” But some sources including a recent leak from Flipkart India moto g 3 listening says that Motorola can use a Snapdragon 610 soc with 2 GB ram. You can expect an early Moto G 3Generaion release date in India

It can be recalled that the 2nd generation Moto G, released last year, had a 2070 mAh battery, so the 2390 mAh spec is an obvious improvement in Moto G 3rd Generation phone.

Forbes noted that Motorola observed a 7-month gap in releasing the previous Moto Gs.

“If Motorola were to follow that same plan, then this version of the Moto G wouldn’t be expected until late July 2015,” the news source speculated.

The Moto G series is the best-selling smartphone from Motorola. Judging by the success of the second generation Moto G, there’s good reason to expect this year’s iteration to become a hit, as well. This is especially considering that this unit will be the first one backed by Lenovo.

“If the new handsets can gather sales to match the first handsets, that will provide a clear statement of intent on the future direction of Motorola in the hands of Lenovo,” Forbes concluded.
