This new version is named as the version 8.5, and earlier the application was running on version 8.0. The biggest change one will notice in the new version is that the application size has been decreased by 2MB’s, this is not a major change, but still, it can be considered as a variation in the app. This is due to the elimination of the Wear app, this micro-app which comes bundled with the Play Music app has been removed.

The new app also offers adaptive icon improvements, in the earlier version 8.0 there is a circular icon design stacked on the top of a square, but in the new version 8.5, the icons have been directly placed over the square shape. We were expecting the UI changes in the application as it was tipped earlier, but unfortunately, there were no noticeable visual changes in the application.

Play Music App now allows a user to open it through the home screen shortcuts, with this feature there is no need to open the complete app. For example, if a user wants to go to Songs menu, then there is no need to go through artists, recent, etc. one can directly click on the songs shortcut on the home screen.
