It is the latest version of the application, and earlier the version was 4.4, and if we compare them, some significant changes have taken place. Google has designed the Camera app for Pixel 2-series keeping the new design and features in mind; even there are some cool functions that only a Pixel 2 or Pixel XL 2 user can use. Firstly, this application will only work on your Nexus or Pixel series devices and if you own a first gen Pixel device than you should try the Google Camera v5.0 as the latest version will probably not work on it. You can say that this is Pixel 2’s ported Camera app, but the users can’t use Motion photos, AR Stickers on their device as those are the Pixel 2 only exclusive features.
As per the users, Motion photos is working for old Pixel devices in v5.0. Minor UI Changes can be seen here and there; the Lens Blur icon has been changed to a Flower icon. In the latest app, an improved Exposure and Focus lock option appears on the screen. All new features like Face Retouch(the modern name given to beauty mode), HDR+ enhanced, etc. It might appear confusing to you are some features are limited to Google Camera v5.0 while some are available in only v5.1.
