The leaks and rumors about its successor have already been over the horizon and the successor Xiaomi Redmi 7 will be a game changer for the Chinese giant when it launches next year. Xiaomi has always been the go-to OEM that has been serving in the extremely price-sensitive Indian market, and with a phone like the Redmi 6 and the Redmi Y2 it has found tremendous success and is continuing the same position. The Xiaomi Redmi 7 which will be launching in mid-2019 is going to be a game changer, So without any further ado, let’s take a look at what the Redmi 7 will offer.

4 January: An unknown Xiaomi phone has passed through the TENNA certification carrying the model number M1901F7T. The model is most probably the Pro variant of Redmi 7 series. According to the listing, the phone will feature 6.3inch display, 3900 mAh battery, and will have 159.21×75.21×8.1(mm) dimensions.

According to the latest rumors, the upcoming Redmi 7 may feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SOC. The other hardware specs will remain the same in both of the models, but there will be a slight increase in the primary camera performance.

Redmi 7 Pro

In this post we will talk about the possible features and specs that we will see on the Xiaomi Redmi 7, starting with the design. This is the notch era, and currently there’re two types of notches one is the iPhone X style wide rectangle notch while the second type is the water drop style, which looks much better and doesn’t interfere much with the display. TENNA listing of the Redmi 7 Pro confirms that the smartphone will come with a dewdrop style notch, so you can expect a higher screen to body ratio than the Redmi 6 Pro.

Also, the bottom chin will be present as this is a budget phone and you can’t expect a fancy design at such a low cost. A metal body with a dual camera setup and also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is also in the cards.

Redmi 7 Specs

Talking about its specs the Redmi 7 will feature a larger 6.26-inch IPS LCD with either 720+ 19.5:9 ratio. However, the Pro variant will come with a 1080P+ 6.3-inch display, and you can also expect thinner bezels on the sides.

Ticking under the hood will be a Snapdragon 632 which will be coupled with either 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB (Only Redmi 7 Pro) of RAM with storage options starting from 32GB and 64GB along with room for expansion with an sd-card slot. Redmi 7A model may come in 2GB RAM option.

On the camera side of things as this is a budget phone, you shouldn’t expect spectacular camera performance, but as this is Xiaomi, you will get a Dual Camera setup that we have also seen on its predecessor. Apart from that, on the front, you will get at least an 8-megapixel sensor coupled with a front facing flash for night time selfies. This could also be catered towards the selfie lovers thus could even get a 12 MP or a 16 MP front snapper with all the face filters and portrait mode on the front as well which comes inbuilt with MIUI 10.

Software and Battery

Speaking about MIUI, the Redmi 7 will come with MIUI 10 based on Android Pie 9.0. Updates for the Redmi series have always been a sluggish business but with Android Pie 9.0 now in town, this should at least speed things up, and updates could be rolled out a week or two earlier when compared to the previous scenario.

AI will also be a big part of the software, keeping things moving fluidly and also will impact on its camera performance. Now according to the TENNA listing, the battery on the Xiaomi Redmi 7 Pro is expected to come at a 3900mAh nominal (4000 mAh Max capacity). The 3C listing also confirms that the new Xiaomi Redmi smartphones come with 5V/2A charging, suggesting 10W charging support.
