Enthusiast brand OnePlus began its terrifying journey with the launch of the OnePlus One which was launched in 2014, and the device gave the company a recognization which it today bears proudly. The OnePlus One was a developer-friendly device and on a custom version of Android which is today known as OxygenOS. And the last update the device received was a marshmallow upgrade, and that was the last one. However, due to great community support behind it, developers have made available the popular LineageOS 15.1 for the OnePlus and one, and in this post, we will take a look at how to get it on your OnePlus One handset.
The LineageOS 15.1 is based on Android Oreo 8.1, which is the latest flavor of Android until Android P 9.0 shows up in its final stable form. Thus pushing your old legend in the Android Oreo territory.
Requirements
- Your device should have an unlocked bootloader
- Your device should be Rooted
- A custom recovery Such as the TWRP or CWM is also needed to flash the device
- Backup all your data
- Your handset should have at least 50% or more battery in reserve

How to install LineageOS 15.1 on OnePlus One
You need to download the files mentioned above, i.e., Lineage OS 15.1 ROM and Gapps for Android 8.1
Once the files are downloaded, you need to place it on your phone’s internal storage
Now, you need to reboot into your phone’s custom recovery menu, to do so press the power button and the volume down button together for 10 seconds (TWRP recovery)
Next, you have to make a clean flash, for that, Select Wipe option from the TWRP menu and after that, you have to Wipe the Dalvik, Cache and Cache partition
Once, done go back into the TWRP menu and tap on Install option
Now you have to browse the LineageOS 15.1 ROM file on your phone’s storage
And once, found Select it and Swipe to Flash the Custom ROM
Now again head back to the TWRP main menu and again Tap on Install option, steer to the Gapps file on your internal storage and Swipe to flash the Gapps as well
Next, just Reboot your OnePlus one, the first reboot might take some time than usual and once done, you’ll be up and running on LineageOS 15.1
