Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 is receiving a new firmware update in India, and this one carries the MIUI version as�9.5.6�OEIMIFA. Surprisingly this one brings Android Oreo 8.1 to the device. Along with that you also get March security patch which isn’t the latest but should do the job, rather than running 2 or 3 months older patch. Moreover, this isn’t the Chinese ROM, but a stable Global ROM for the Redmi Note 5 and is currently seeding.
So, this is a good news for Redmi Note 5 users in India as they get to experience the latest flavor of Android Oreo 8.1. Which brings a lot of new features, as well as most of the features introduced with Android Oreo 8.0, are now refined, for instance, New neural network API, new battery indicator for Bluetooth devices, dark mode transformation, semi-opaque�notification shade and much more. Also, you will experience bugs reported earlier are fixed with this one, and overall better system stability will be delivered.
Now as always the drill, the update is reported to be over the air, and it covers a particular region in several phases. So, everyone in India won’t receive this new firmware update at the same time. Being patient and waiting for the upgrade is your option and other than that, you can keep checking it manually by heading over to Settings > About Phone and Software Updater.
Also, make sure to have a minimum of 50% or more battery in reserve�before you start installing this update on your Redmi Note 5. The handset was launched with Android Nougat 7.1.x and now receiving�Android Oreo 8.1 suggests that this might have completed it’s one significant update already and may not get Android P 9.0 Update.
