Realme to launch Realme A1 in India to compete with Zenfone Max M2

Realme, a sub-brand of Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo, has been targeting the entry-level phone category of late, with the Realme C1 launched earlier this year and now with the rumored Realme A1.

Entry-level smartphones are characterized by impressive hardware and software specs at an aggressively low price segment. Generally targeted at the youth, these budget-friendly devices are usually worth every Rupee you spend on it. Take for example the Realme C1. Released at an introductory price of just INR 6,999 (Now INR 7,499), the smartphone featured a 6.20-inches notched display with a mega 4230 mAh battery.

Recently, new information regarding Realme’s next entry-level smartphone has surfaced online – with rumors suggesting it to be possibly named ‘Realme A1’. Taking into consideration the sensitive price bracket, we’ve speculated the device to have specifications reminiscent of the C1 itself; but will be an upgraded version. This means either a Snapdragon 632 or a Mediatek Helio P60 processor under the hood with 2/3/4 GB of RAM and 32/64 GB of ROM. According to the source, Ishan Agarwal, it seems like Realme A1 will be put below the Realme U1 in the lineup. The phone will be launched in Yellow & Black colors and will be a direct competitor to the recently launched Asus Zenfone Max M2.

The phone is expected to have 13 MP + 2 MP rear camera setup and a 5 MP selfie shooter. The battery capacity can be predicted to lie in the 4000-5000 mAh range (Thanks to Zenfone Max M2). If recent budget smartphones are any indicator, the Realme A1 should sport a bezel-less touchscreen display with a trendy water drop notch. Then again, given the price segment, we aren’t too optimistic that this will be the case.

The Realme C1 is available at INR 7,499 right now which suggests that the Realme A1 will be priced somewhere around INR 10,000.

Of course, these details are based on rumors and speculations as there has been neither any confirmation nor any comment from the company. We’ll keep you updated once more information pours in.
