Xiaomi, the Chinese giant, recently announced its latest smartphones known as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A and the 5A Prime. From a long time their images were leaking on the web, and now finally they are official. These are the successor the current Redmi 4A/Redmi 4; we are not yet sure that the phone will come in India or not. But in this article, we will be comparing the successor with its predecessor i-e Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A vs. Xiaomi Redmi 4.
Performance
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425(64 bit) Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.4Ghz coupled with 2GB of RAM along with an Adreno 308 GPU for gaming.
While powering the Redmi 4 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435(64 bit) Octa-Core processor along with optional 2GB/3GB/4GB of RAM and an Adreno 505 GPU for Gaming. Redmi Note 5A offers 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 128GB�s while Redmi 4 is available in 16GB/32GB/64GB ROM versions and you can also expand memory via micro-SD card.
Design
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A is not a Metal device, but still, Xiaomi has tried its best to make it look premium while Xiaomi Redmi 4 is made out of Metal and looks way premium than the Redmi Note 5A. Redmi Note 5A doesn�t sport a Fingerprint Scanner while Redmi 4�s 32GB/64GB variant offers it. Overall Redmi 4 wins regarding design and it are also available in two color options Black and Gold.
Display
Redmi Note 5A houses a 5.5(inch) HD Display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a 2.5D Curved Glass, 267ppi. Redmi 4 sports a 5.0(inch) HD IPS Screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and additionally it has a 2.5D Curved Glass and some protective covering which is not found on the Redmi Note 5A. Redmi 4 has a better display as the resolution is the same but smaller screen size on Redmi 4 results in better Pixel Per Inch(ppi).
Camera
In the rear, Redmi Note 5A has a 13MP Camera with PDAF, LED Flash, and in the front, a 16MP selfie camera with Flash is present. The Redmi houses a 13MP rear snapper with PDAF, Aperture f/2.2, LED Flash and in the front, it has a 5MP shooter for selfies. Regarding rear camera performance both are identical, but regarding selfie shooter, Redmi Note 5A is ahead as it features a 16MP snapper with Flash compared to a 5MP on the Redmi 4.
Battery & Connectivity
The Redmi Note 5A runs on a 3080mAh battery while the Redmi has a massive 4100mAh battery, which means that Redmi 4 will perform better as more battery will last longer. Both devices can house 2 SIM cards, but Redmi 4 has a Hybrid SIM Tray while a SD-card can be simultaneously on Redmi Note 5A. Both devices run on MIUI 8 but will get the latest MIUI 9 update. Both devices support Wi-Fi, 4G connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, etc. Redmi 4 has a slight edge regarding battery while Redmi Note 5A can house 2 SIM and a SD-card simultaneously.

The price of the regular Redmi Note 5A is 699 CNY(6,800 INR), and the price of the Redmi 4 is 770 CNY(7,000 INR approximately).
