Sony Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1, and the XZ Compact gets the December security update

Sony is now pushing out a new update for its new Xperia line up for its devices that includes the Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1, and the XZ Compact; the new update is the latest December Security patch. This update should fix any new security vulnerabilities and should seal down all security gaps. Moreover, the build number gets a bump, and the new one is47.1.A.8.49.

Apart from that, there isn’t anything special here; you might see some bug fixes which were reported earlier and stability improvements are also present. Sony was the only OEM who shipped it’s latest Xperia devices running on Android Oreo, so we don’t have to worry about Oreo update, with Sony’s new flagships.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium also received the much awaited Oreo update a few days ago. And now if you haven’t received the notification of the new update then remember that such updates roll out in phases and will reach across the globe covering one region at a time. So, be patient and keep checking the update manually by heading over to Settings > About Phone > System Software updates.

Also, make sure you have more than 60% battery in reserve, and it’s recommended that you download the update over WiFi rather than on mobile data. However, there aren’t any major bugs reported yet, so it’s a good idea to download and install this security update as fast as possible.
