Xiaomi Mi5s gets Android Oreo 8.1 MIUI 10 via closed beta

Xiaomi’s Mi5S flagship from 2016 won’t die on an old OS, as the device is now eligible for Android Oreo 8.1 Update, with Xiaomi’s new closed beta program. It will get the MIUI 10 with this latest closed beta, and the version is MIUI 10 version v8.9.20 and the update weights around 2.15GB. Download link for the Fastboot ROM can be found below.

The Mi 5s was launched back in 2016 on Android Marshmallow and received an update to Nougat 7.0 was provided last year, and since then the device has been carving for the Oreo and now it is time for one, even though we have the Android P 9.0 as the newest flavor of Android. Earlier Xiaomi released a statement explaining the delay cause for the update was due to some issues regarding its fingerprint scanner which has now been fixed at last.

Moreover, with the latest Android Oreo 8.1 update you will get the highly praised picture-in-picture mode, which will take your multi-tasking game to the next level, auto-fill forms, dark-mode, improved doze mode means better battery life, neural network API ensures  AI abilities on your handset, along with redesigned settings and notification tray brings a fresh new experience for the users.

Anyways make sure, that you take a full back up of your system before flashing the new ROM on your device, to avoid any data loss. Lastly, you expect the stable version of the MIUI 10 based on Android Oreo 8.1 for the Mi 5s by the end of this year or in early November.
